Format for 2008
The NJSBCL has
48 teams registered for this year. These teams are divided in to 4 groups of 11
teams each (A, B, C & D). The placement of teams in to group was ranked
based on their performance in the prior
year, if participated. All the new teams have been assigned the group randomly.
Round 1:
Each
participating team will play 11 games as per the schedule. At the end of the
round 1 top 6 team from each group will qualify for round 2. The 6 teams
eliminated from round 1 will participate in Plater's tournament; the schedule
will be published in due course.
Round 2:
In this round
Group A plays Group B and Group C play Group D - 6 Games for each of the
qualifiers from round 1.The points and Net Run Rate will not be carried forward
to round 2 from round 1. But the NRR will be used resolve the tie
between the teams, please refer to the rule book for more details on tie
breaker rules.
At the
conclusion of round two top 4 teams from combined AB and Combined CD will
qualify for Quarter Final round.
The 16 teams
eliminated from round 2 will be eligible to participate in Plater's tournament
Quarter Finals,
Semi Finals & Finals:
Top 4 teams from
AB plays top 4 teams from CD - Knockout round – Winners qualify for the
semifinal Semi Finals - Knockout round, winners qualify to Finals.
Grounds:
Due to the
increase of the number of teams participating, the numbers of ground available
are less than last year, hence the league management expects co-operation and
flexibility from the participating teams on this issue. On the issue of
multiple teams playing on the same ground, we expect the concerned teams to
work out amicable solution based on the published schedule. The EC will not be
arbitrator for those situations. The team which has a permit from the local
government body will be considered as Home team by the EC. This year EC has
determined following teams as travel teams, these teams will not be awarded any
home games, these teams has to travel to opposing teams ground for playing
matches.
Toms
River, ACT CC, Atlantic CC, Falls CC, Wayne Sparks, New Port
ALL SCHEDULED
GAMES MUST START NO LATER THAN 8.45
AM
Rescheduling &
Rained out games:
The league
management expects the playing team captains and neutral umpires assigned to
the game to come up with reschedule plan before the end date of the scheduled
round.
Round 1 -
July 27th, 2008
Round 2 –
September 21st, 2008
Only in
exceptional cases EC should intervene in the matter, as usual EC's decision
will be final. EC has 2 options - Either force the teams to complete the game
within all the constraints or split the points.
Neutral Umpires:
Each assigned
participating team has to provide 2 volunteer umpires for assigned games; the
league will maintain a pool of paid umpires if the umpiring team wants to hire
someone from that pool. Failure to provide umpires will result in deduction of
5 points and penalty of 40 dollars per umpire.
The volunteers
performing the duties of umpiring must be conversant with the Rule book
published by the league for year 2008. The umpires should also refer to
umpiring guidelines document from the website.
Non Participation
in scheduled Game:
It was observed
last year that some teams had not shown any interest in executing the scheduled
games due to non qualification to next round. Forfeiture of scheduled games
will be viewed seriously this year and may result in expulsion of the team from
the league and/or Ban for next 2 years. The EC exercised this option this year
and not allowed defaulting team to participate for year 2008
Player
restrictions:
A player can
play only from 1 team for the season 2008; each team must maintain this
discipline for successful completion of games this year.
Website:
Our league has
new home on the internet http://www.njsbcl.com, this should work as our
communication channel for the year 2008. Please use this website for
communications, score sheet updates and all other information purpose. The FAQ
section offers the complete functionality of the website with training
documents. This should be used as point of communication.
Forms:
All teams must
complete the Registration & Waiver form and submit to the EC. The original
signed hard copy document should be submitted. Teams can collect this form
during balls distribution, sign & return it.
